PRESTATYN TOWN 0 - 4 CITY
18 MARCH 2012
MIKE SMITH'S MATCH REPORT

After two home defeats Bangor bounced back to win at Bastion Gardens on Friday night.

And it was win built on a man of the match performance from Sion Edwards who generally terrorised the unfortunate Prestatyn rightback Chris Davies and netted twice - once in each half - in the process.

City kicked off with a stiff breeze at their backs attacking the Social Club end and quickly gained control of the game through Neil Thomas and Damian Allen in midfield.   Chances though were not clear cut until a 19th minute corner from the left was sent straight into the home net by Chris Jones to the surprise of the blues support.

It stayed that way until a minute before the half time break when Sion Edwards crashed home a truly unstoppable volley from the left with Jon Hill Dunt beaten all ends up.

Prestatyn might have fancied their chances in the second period with the win at their backs but it was Bangor who had the ball in the net three times - one was harshly ruled out for offside.   Just after the hour mark Les Davies chased through on the left to smash a fierce low strike between Hill Dunt and his near post for a 3-0 lead and a sixteenth goal of the season for the Maesgeirchen marauder.

Next up Big Les again with that disallowed "goal" before the fourth and final strike of the evening five minutes from time and a well deserved second for Sion Edwards this time driven in low from the left.   And that was about it, as convincing as the scoreline suggests and difficult times for depleted Prestatyn whose injured player manager Neil Gibson cut a forlorn figure on the sidelines.

Tougher games ahead perhaps for City but - one at a time - and now just four wins needed!

Huge credit to Prestatyn Town for their hospitable reception for the Bangor sponsored walk brigade who were admitted free and given food on their arrival. This generosity must not be forgotten.   The dream for Bangor lives on...   Cmon City!
