• City “200 Club” members have shown their generosity yet again as proceeds from the recent monthly competition have gone towards the purchase of a new fax/telephone machine at Farrar Road. Club Secretary Alun Griffths thanked “200 Club” members for supplying this essential piece of equipment enabling him to keep in touch efficiently with the Welsh Premier nerve centre, even during the white heat of matchdays.
o Over the longer term, 200 Club proceeds are also being used to keep City’s first-team squad in trim, as money raised will all but cover the whole season’s expenses of hiring the all-weather training pitches in Holywell.
 

BANGOR CITY FOOTBALL CLUB NEW SEASON ANNUAL MEETING

Tuesday 26th August at Bangor Social Club 7.00pm

53 People turned up on the evening to hear the chairman, Ken Jones, talk about the history of the club firstly, including how he came to be part of Bangor City. He talked in detail about the new stadium, new season, club finance, fundraising including tote & 200 club.
He talked about lifting the Football Club to the next, successful level, to match the aspirations of the Football Team and it's future ambitions. The team has come from near the bottom of the league to third last season, to improve the club needs more money. The tote can provide that answer.
Bangor City F C are offering shares in the club for a mere £1, in return for anyone who can sell 25 tote tickets per week for 12 months. The sales will be logged, if one sells 23 one week they need to sell 27 the next to be on par. After 12 months you will be a shareholder in Bangor City F C. The money generated would be enough to see the club in a good financial position, of which you could be a shareholder. The effort by yourselves could be extremely worthwhile. Please contact us for an application form like those which were handed out on the night. Many supporters were impressed by the thought of being a shareholder and signed up. Bangor City will arrange for a convenient place for the tickets and money to be dropped off, or for the them to be collected. Please help the club and in turn help yourselves and the community of Bangor.

For those of you unable to attend Tuesday night's meeting, here are a few notes - background papers are available from the Club, for anyone requiring further information.

········ Bangor City's Annual General Meeting was a great example of Club's spirit, of openness and information-sharing, and showed that it's not always necessary to wait until crisis-time before putting fans in the picture. Chairman Ken Jones gave an overview of financial performance over the past season, and stressed that whilst the Club was in a far more stable position than it had been when he had taken over three years ago, a major fundraising push was now needed. Ken Jones went on to say that when the new ground at Nantporth was in place, new commercial income streams would bolster club finances further - but that there was now a bridging period to be overcome.

Ken Jones also announced his intention to get supporters more involved in the running of the Club, though making shares available to the season's top tote sellers, and to investigate the possibility of setting up a Supporters Trust. He also called for supporters who might be able to offer professional assistance in running the Club, such as help in monitoring player and staff expenses.

Dilwyn Jones, leader of the Club's "Stadium Team", gave the meeting an update on the situation with the proposed move to the Nantporth site. Gwynedd Council has now approved the "in principle" application to build a sports stadium at Nantporth, and it is now up to the Club to continue negotiations with Bangor City Council and the developers to ensure the best quality facility to serve not only Bangor City Football Club, but also the wider area and community. The Club's future moves now depended on the development of the Farrar Road site. The meeting saw plans showing how the stadium could look should the Club’s aspirations come to fruition and Dilwyn explained how Nantporth could be developed to meet WP and UEFA requirements.

In this meeting Ken Jones talked about the finances of the club and how we need to raise more money to keep the club alive. He also talked about the proposed new stadium, and the threat of Tesco putting the plans in jeopardy. Your support is needed to oppose Tesco's expansion.

Everyone knows the benefits of teamwork.
Football clubs are no exception - good teamwork counts - off the field as well as on it. It's no good playing well if the finances are shaky, or if the club has a poor relationship with the local community. We know about some clubs' financial difficulties, and we also know how others have upset supporters by failing to work with them effectively.
Bangor City FC knows better, and is a real team effort - both on the pitch and behind the scenes.

Under the leadership of Club Chairman Ken Jones and Club Secretary Alun Griffiths (sp), and guided by the experienced hand of Club President Gwyn Pierce Owen, Bangor City is now matching its proud tradition for success on the field with an organised and businesslike approach to running the Club.

The Directors of Bangor City Football Club have asked for your support.
You will know that, over the last couple of years stringent efforts have been made to place the Club on a sound financial footing, clearing many historical debts, building 'bridges' with the local business community and Council, private individuals and the community as a whole - you only have to attend matches and see the number of youngsters who attend to appreciate the success to date.
The Club now need to move forward on the administrative aspects of the business. It has been a source of great disappointment that, not withstanding the achievements on the field of play under excellent and, quite possibly, the most successful team management we have experienced for a number of years, our progress has not been matched by great efforts off the pitch. Invariably it has fallen to the same personnel to attempt arrangements for fund raising, match day stewarding /turnstile operation etc. etc.
Under the ultimate responsibility of the Football Club Directors they now seek to set up a number of committees to cover the various sections of the business activities and work towards lifting the Football Club to the next, successful level, to match the aspirations of the Football Team and it's future ambitions.
The Club Directors are hoping to draw on the wide range of individual expertise they know exists within the Bangor City supporter base.
Ideally they are seeking to set up specific committees for Finance, Fund raising (including tote on match days), Ground / stadium maintenance and, finally, match day arrangements (turnstile cover / stewarding, programme sales etc)
They now seek a minimum of twenty persons for these four designated committees, thus each committee would consist of five individuals with the well being / future of the Football Club in mind.
Each committee would meet once monthly, at a venue to be agreed by those particular committee members, there would be no pre conditions as to the venue, simply that an element of privacy was available.
Importantly, and for your comfort / protection, you will be one of five committee members and, thus, any decisions made will be collective and you will not feel ' on your own' at any time, any responsibilities will be shared.

The committee would be responsible for setting up and taking forward any decisions / matters discussed during the meeting-the Football Club Directors ask that a short report be submitted to them following the get-together.
The agenda for one of the committee meetings might, therefore, be (if, say fund raising):
> How to increase Tote sales - ideas from members.
> Who is responsible within the committee to monitor
> Set a target of increased sales
> Advise Director of outcome of meeting
> Review success at next monthly meeting
Whilst the committee dealing with match day arrangements would be responsible for stewarding and turnstile cover, programme sales etc. and finding those persons prepared to undertake such duties.
There will, obviously, be 'cross- over meetings ' between the individual committees as Finance might be required for Fund raising items / match day cover etc. then it would be necessary for one committee to liase with another to sort out requirements and the benefits to be achieved i.e. a ' bouncy castle might cost £100.00 but will raise £500 in a fun day.
Please consider carefully whether you are in a position to help in this next step of the Football Club's progression. The Directors appreciate that some of you have more time than others but you might have expertise / knowledge that you could contribute in a committee meeting which might prove invaluable in raising funds, maintaining the Stadium, (especially, until the move), finance and cash flow and looking after the crowd etc. on match days.

I would much appreciate the help of others for content to be included in the site, images, reports, outcome of committee meetings, etc. I don't mind editing this information myself.
I am putting a submissions page on the site where people can type in their views, ideas, reports and general information. This info will go live as soon as it is submitted by the user.
I will log on to the site every day to check that the submitted information is OK and worthy of public viewing.
A forum could be added, which shows supporters views and comments on games.

The site will help the business of the club, as it can be used as a tool for communication and publicity, weather it be the press, BBC, committee, supporters, sponsors, young footballers or the local community.
The site will be a starting block for fundraising, events, promotions, sponsorship, news stories and alike.
A competition could be arranged for best letter or E-mail of the month, best photo of the month, best game report etc. This would help to get people interested and involved with the club, its website and the Club publicity.

Bangor City Girls

Bangor City Girls were formed in 1987 and entered the North West Regional Women's Football League Division 4 in 1988. Bangor have climbed the divisions and joined the elite FA Women's Premier League Northern Division in 1999. Season 2001 / 2002 saw Bangor become the first Welsh club side to qualify for the UEFA Women's Cup.

England / Betws Y Coed - follow signs into Bangor, pass the City Swimming Pool, approximately one mile further turn left (before the traffic lights / railway station) into Farrar Road (one way) the ground is on the left.

Caernarfon direction - follow signs for the City centre, turn left (one way) immediately under the railway bridge, take the right hand lane up to the railway station traffic lights. Turn right at the lights and then (100yds) right again into Farrar Road. The ground is on the left.
