Mon 9th July 2003  Welshpool Town will play in Welsh Premier.
Welshpool have won the fight to avoid relegation from the Welsh Premier.
The mid Wales club finished second from bottom in the league last season, but argued because only one club had qualified for promotion from the two feeder leagues.
The Football Association of Wales wants to reduce the number of teams competing in the league and had indicated that Welshpool's relegation would stand.
But after the rest of the Welsh Premier clubs supported Welshpool's cause, the FAW has decided to reinstate them for next season.
Oswestry merge with TNS.
The approval of the new team means the league will consist of 17 teams.
The fixture list for next season is due to be announced this month.

Fri 5th July 2003  Chris Short has joined Aberystwyth as assistant manager.
After 2 years at Farrar Road, he joins former City players Gavin Allen and Marc Lloyd-Williams. Short was voted City supporters player of the year, and man of the match in the 1st leg against Gloria. We wish him well in his new managerial role.

Wed 3rd July 2003   Bangor's new ground setback
 BANGOR City F C is appealing for community backing as it faces one of the most important months in the club's history.
The rallying call was issued this week as the application to relocate the Farrar Road ground (above) was put back.
The earliest date the application can now be heard is 30 July, even though the bid was submitted at the beginning of April.
Club officials have now asked the people of Bangor to back the bid by inundating Gwynedd planning department with messages of support.
Councillor Eddie Dogan, who played for Bangor during the 1950s, said: "We must all get behind Bangor City, the supporters and the community as a whole, we must get this new ground.
"People who love Bangor City would love to stay at Farrar Road but it is not realistic unless we can find £2m to improve the ground. Therefore, we need this new ground to progress and I want Gwynedd to back us on this.
"I would ask fans to write in to the council or even turn up at the meeting. Let's get behind the club."
Bangor City chairman Ken Jones said: "We need this move to develop Bangor City Football Club.
"We are a top three League of Wales side and we regularly play in Europe. But in comparison with other European teams we play, our facilities are shocking."
Under the application, the Farrar Road ground would be demolished and replaced with a supermarket.
Meanwhile, the football team would be relocated to a new stadium beside the university's George buildings, off Holyhead Road.
The ground would include a 600-seat stand and floodlights.

PLANS to build a supermarket in Farrar Road and relocate Bangor City FC could be jeopardised by an application to build a huge extension at Tesco.

Developer Morbaine fears the plan by the supermarket chain to increase its floor space at

the Caernarfon Road site from 50,000 sq ft to 90,000 sq ft, would deter a retail competitor from taking the prime city centre location.

Company director John Parle told the Mail this would leave the entire project "doomed" and scupper the football club's move to a new stadium in Holyhead Road, Upper Bangor.

Bangor Took on FC Gloria Bistrita at Rhyl's Belle Vue ground on Saturday, but lost 1 - 0. Even though Gloria were down to 10 men with a few minutes left in the game, Bangor could not get the ball in the net, even though they hit the crossbar. See the match report.

Thur 19th June 2003  Manchester City drawn against TNS Llansantffraid in the UEFA Cup.
At the draw for the UEFA Cup, Total Network Solutions FC were over the moon to draw against Barclay Card premiership side Manchester City FC. This potentially money spinning tie for the Mid Wales Club will be played in August with the first leg in Manchester City's new stadium on August 14th. The second leg, 2 weeks later, will probably be at Wrexham's Racecourse ground.
In the same competition, Cwmbran Town FC will play Maccabi Haifa FC from Israel. Welsh Premier League Champions Barry Town FC will play in the UEFA Champions League against FK Vadar of Macedonia. If they win, they play Russian League Leaders CSKA (a tough game).

Thur 19th June 2003  Bangor are ready to take on Gloria

With a few days to go before the Intertoto cup tie with Gloria, City are stepping up their preparations on and off the pitch.
With training sessions planned and a friendly encounter with the Anglesey X1 lined up, City boss Peter Davenport has stepped up his search for a central defender. With Huw Griffiths still recovering from his operations, a commanding centreback is thought to be the manager's main target prior to the Belle Vue tie.
However with UEFA regulations and deadlines in mind, any signing would have to take place before the weekend for the newcomer to be eligible.

Thur 19th June 2003  Lloyd-Williams set for Aberystwyth move - DAILY POST
Bangor City's prolific striker, Marc Lloyd-Williams, looks poised to join Mitsubishi Welsh Premier rivals Aberystwyth Town.
The 30 year old is set to put pen to paper later this week following talks with the Park Avenue club. Aber boss Gary Finley, however, would not be drawn about the prospects of securing Lloyd-Williams, who had been put up for sale by Bangor earlier this month. "negotiations are at a delicate stage but we're not a million miles away," he said.
Lloyd-Williams netted 50 league and cup goals in Bangor's 2001-2002 campaign to take the league's player of the season award.
Last year he joined Conference club Southport but, following an unsuccessful spell, returned to Bangor mid-season where he finished with 12 league and cup goals. Finley is also close to landing a central-defender.
Meanwhile, defender Robbie Wood has become the third player to be released byTNS Llansantffraid. Former skipper Tim Alexander has joined Kidsgrove Athletic and striker Steve Anthrobus is now with Hednesford Town.
Bangor City manager Peter Davenport is thought to be keen to redistribute the club's playing budget, the sale of Lloyd Williams is expected to pave the way for a number of key signings.
Meanwhile City include recent captures Peter Hoy and Gary Reay from Cammell Lairds and Denbigh Town stiker, Gary Roberts in today's Intertoto squad. Hoy and Roberts made their City debuts against an Ynys Mon X1 in warm-up games earlier this week.

Fri 6th June 2003 Bangor seek to sell Lloyd Williams
 Bangor City have placed Marc Lloyd Williams on the transfer list with immediate effect.
The WP's leading striker returned to Farrar Road at Christmas after an unhappy spell at Southport but failed to fuel City's title challenge as was hoped. Now he is likely to move to one of three bidders, Aberystwyth, Rhyl and TNS. The roads to Aber are third world which makes Rhyl or TNS the more likely, which probably means Ken McKenna will finally get his man.
City boss Peter Davenport is quoted as saying the club "needs funds to bring in new players" whilst media headlines suggest City cannot afford his wages.
This news will be hard to swallow for City fans who have already seen Simon Davies move to TNS. As a self confessed "Jiws" fan this is diffifcult for me to sit and type.
However a week ago I wrote on the guestbook that Ken Jones runs the club and
Peter Davenport picks the team. The manager is not here to pick supporters favourites but to back his judgement in team matters. This is his call.

Fri 6th June 2003 City off to Gloria
UEFA have announced a change of opposition for City with Gloria 1922 Bistrita replacing Ceahlaul following a mistake by the Romanian FA.
The new opponents are also based in Transylvania and both legs go ahead as planned, although the 6pm kick for the away leg may yet change.
Gloria finished 3rd with 45 points whilst Ceahlaul were 5th on 44.

Thur 5th June 2003 Joe Cole Emulates Robbo Strike

City striker Paul Roberts and England's Joe Cole have something in common after the Hammer strike against Serbia-Montenegro in Leicester last night. The common denominator is goalkeeper Zilic who was beaten by Robbo at The Racecourse against Sartid In August and last night by the England midfielder.  Good goals they were too!

Wed 4th June 2003 City gear up for Intertoto
BBC Ceefax carries the news that Ken Jones has funded the £20K cost of the Intertoto trip to Romania. There was no mention of an FAW support.
City have confirmed that the home leg will be a 3pm ko at Rhyl on Saturday 21st June with the away leg a 6pm ko in Romania the following Saturday 28th June 2003.
By way of preparation Bangor will play an Anglesey X1 - more details to follow.

Wed 20th May 2003 New pair sign upFollowing the departure of Simon Davies two newcomers have arrived at Farrar Road. They are Denbigh Town striker Gary Roberts and utility man Peter Hoy from Cammell Laird.
Roberts (19) was top scorer with Denbigh last season with 22 goals after his release from Liverpool FC where he was a member of the youth side. Hoy is described as "very versatile" and can operate in defence of midfield.
City boss Peter Davenport is also hoping to further strengthen the City squad before the June Intertoto deadline.

Shaker joins TNS   Welsh Premiership player of the season Simon Davies has joined TNS on a two year contract. The factory boys had initially approached the former Welsh International during the season but failed at that stage.  However talks re-opened in recent weeks which have led to acceptable terms being agreed. This is a big disappointment for City fans but we wish Shaker well and hope he enjoys his football.

Bangor confirm Romanian itinerary
After much deliberation City have sorted out their Intertoto travel arrangements with a Thursday to Sunday itinerary.
   These plans were sorted out by club officials and agreed by the manager and his players.  The matter of funding from the FAW still hangs in the balance but at present the situation looks quite positive.

City have also confirmed that the home leg will be played at Belle Vue, Rhyl.

Tues 19 May 2003Blues Euro future in doubt
 As Bangor officials calculate the cost of the proposed Romanian trip so the possibility of withdrawl from The Intertoto Cup grows.
Drawn againt FC Ceahaul in far flung Piatra Neamt in North Romania, City are likely to ask the FAW for financial assistance. The cash flow difficulty is caused by the time lag in receiving the anticipated £25K UEFA payment. The FAW are known to have massive cash reserves which they appear reluctant to use for the benefit of their member clubs.
It has to be said that there may well be serious ramifications for Welsh Premier football if City are forced to withdraw. If European entry is not feasible then the case for the Welsh Premiership - and for Bangor's continued membership - is very questionable.

Pedal power blues A couple of Bangor supporters who cycled from Bangor to Caernarfon and raised more than £300 for the club prior to the WP fixture. The two (pictured) pedalled on the tandem taking in a brief refreshment stop enroute and were cheered onto The Oval carpark by fellow blues supporters. Well done lads!
