CITY V PORTHMADOG: This rearranged Welsh Premier League match will now take place on Tuesday 10 February, KO 7.30 pm.
CITY 0 - 1 NEATH: We failed to build on our outstanding recent form, falling to a 60th minute Dale Evans goal, which gave lowly Neath an unexpected vistory at Farrar Road. In a match played it atrocious conditions, we rarely threatened after a bright start, with keeper Paul Smith's long punt one of our nearest efforts, the strong wind nearly carrying the ball over a backpedalling Neath goalie. (17 January 2009).
LEAGUE CUP FINAL: Following our outshatding performance in the League Cup semi-final at Aberystwyth a few nights ago, we have been informed that the date and venue for the Final will be announced in 7 - 10 days time. (17 January 2009)
BUS TO ABER LEAGUE MATCH: BCFCSA are organising a bus trip to the away LEAGUE game at Aberystwyth on Saturday 24th January. Cost: £10 adults, £5 children (must be accompanied by an adult). Bus will leave Farrar Road at 9.10am, back about 8pm. No smoking or alcohol on the bus. Open to BCFCSA members only.
To reserve your place, phone Elwyn (07709 923573) or Jonathan (07905 624983).
***We need at least 30 people to travel in order to pay for the bus, so please spread the word. Thanks. (15 January 2009)
RHYL WELSH CUP MATCH: Details of the security arrangements for this match (Saturday, 31 January, KO 1215) have now been agreed by all parties. The main points to note are as follows:
Supporters will be segregated with both sets of fans having access to toilet and refreshment facilities
City fans will gain access via the Farrar Road turnstiles and occupy the main stand side of the ground, and the Farrar Road covered end
Rhyl fans should access the ground via a temporary turnstile at the High Street side of the ground, and will occupy the area to the right of the TV gantry (looking at the pitch) and the uncovered end of the pitch
There will be a fenced-off sterile area from the left of the gantry (looking at the pitch) to the Farrar Road covered area
No alcohol will be served during the game, no alcohol may be brought into the ground, and spectators under the influence of alcohol will be either refused entry or ejected from the ground
For obvious reasons, there will also be a heightened stewarding and secrurity presence at this match. Fans are urged to turn up well before KO time to avoid delay in gaining entry to the ground.
A link to full details of security arrangements will be posted here shortly, and circulated in the media in advance of the game. (15 January 2008)
ABERYSTWYTH T 2 - 4 CITY: A hat-trick from on-fire striker Chris Sharp booked Bangor City a place in the final of the Loosemores League Cup where they will meet The New Saints.A 4-2 win at Park Avenue ensured Aberystwyth's 20-year wait for an appearance in a major final will continue for a little longer at least.
Sharp resumed where he left off on Saturday, when he scored both goals in City's 2-0 league win at Haverfordwest.
He struck in the 15th-minute to cancel-out the Seasiders' away goal from the 2-1 first leg win at Farrar Road, with Michael Walsh adding another shortly after the break.
And, with away goals counting double at the end of normal time, Sharp's second on 55 minutes looked to have settled the tie.
The Black & Greens then found their scoring boots and set-up a tense finale with goals from centre-back Christian Edwards and Geoff Kellaway, with just four minutes left.
But Sharp, who has now scored 19 goals in league and cup since joining the Citizens from Rhyl in the summer, settled the City nerves by completing his hat-trick deep into stoppage time.
The final will be staged at a venue to be announced in February or March. (13 January 2009)
HAVERFORDWEST C 0 - 2 CITY: The only Welsh Premier game of the weekend to beat the big freeze got the green light less than 30 minutes before scheduled kick-off time at the New Bridge Meadow. But City - whose late arrival caused a delay - took full advantage with a 2-0 win to end Haverfordwest County's unbeaten home record. Striker Chris Sharp was the hero, taking his league goal tally for the season to 14. He opened the scoring after 10 minutes and fired a superb second goal past Bluebirds' keeper Lee Idzi before half-time.
The win saw us leapfrog today's opponents, as well as Aberystwyth and Carmarthen, into fourth place in the table with our seventh success on the road this season (10 January 2009)
STUART COOK, KYLE WILLIAMS SIGN FOR CITY: City are pleased to announce the signing of 22 year old Stuart Cook. Stuart was with City boss Neville Powell previously at Connah’s Quay as a youngster, and has recently been training with the Bangor City squad, where he has impressed the manager greatly with his fitness and all round ability.
Stuart is the son of Bangor City physio Ron and is a versatile player who can play on either side of midfield or in attack, and will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s game at Haverfordwest.
We have also signed young keeper Kyle Williams who will turn out between the sticks for the reserves and understudy our reliable first-choice Paul Smith. Leeswood-based 19 year-old Kyle is currently studying German and sports science at Bangor university and has previously played for his local side Penyffordd since the age of 14. He was voted Manager's Player of the Season for the University team last season.
Manager Neville Powell has also announced that John Corrigan has been released and has signed for Cammell Lairds. We thank John for his contribution to City, and wish him well for the future. (9 January 2008).
FAW YOUTH CUP: Our reserves will be taking on NEWI Cefn Druids in the Third Round of the FAW Youth Cup, the match to be held on Sunday 25 Jan. Come down to Farrar Road to support Mark Poole's team of talented youngsters. (4 January 2008)
