Bangor City 9-0 Llanystumdwy
Bangor City progressed to the next round of the FAW Youth Cup with a resounding 9-0 victory of Llanystumdwy at The Book People Stadium. The watching crowd were given an early indication of what was to come when City hit the bar within the first minute. City went one better in the 14th minute when a through ball from Dafydd Jones was met by Harry Galeotti just outside the area, and the young striker made no mistake to slot the ball past the advancing Sam Rylance in the Llanystundwy goal.
On 24 minutes the visitors forced their first corner when Ieuan Lloyd was forced to head behind to prevent an attack but the resulting kick flew over everyone in the box and straight out for a goal kick. Four minutes later the visitors were again on the attack as Sam Faulkner gave away a free kick deep in the Llanystumdwy half in the pitch. Sion Parry played the ball in to Jordy Wood whose 20 yard shot flew inches wide of Gethin Roberts right hand post.
City were straight back on the attack and on the half hour mark Liam Walker advanced down the right hand side before putting a low cross into the 6 yard box where Galeotti was inches away from connecting for what would have been a certain goal. Just as it looked as if the first half would end with just the one goal to show, Adam Pritchard popped up from close range to double the lead.
It took just 6 minutes of the second half for City to get a chance to extend their lead when Walker was downed in the penalty area. The referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot but Rhys Cooper's shot was well saved by the visiting 'keeper. The next opportunity came when a lovely floated pass from Adam Pritchard was met by Liam Walker but his shot went wide of the left hand post. Next it was Llanystumdwy's turn to create an opportunity when a pass from Dion Roberts to Jac Jones was quickly played in to Shane Forth who blasted wide. Cai Holdsworth created the next chance for the hosts with a great piece of play which saw him beat 3 defenders before his shot again went wide.
City soon had a corner and from the inswinging kick Adam Pritchard made it 3-0 with a header from almost on the line. On 69 minutes substitute Phil Warrington scored what would be the first of his 4 goals and just 2 minutes later he almost doubled his tally when he received the ball from a quickly taken free kick but the 'keeper stood his ground to stop the advance. On 74 minutes City were awarded another penalty for a foul in the area but the kick rebounded off the post before Warrington was on hand to claim the rebound and claim his second goal of the night. On 77 minutes Ifan Emlyn hit shot against the woodwork before Faulkner drilled a shot into the bottom left of the goal to make it 6-0.
City were not done there though and managed a further 3 goals in the final 3 minutes. The first was scored by Warrington on 87 minutes when he pounced on a defensive mistake to score from 12 yards. 2 minutes later he was again on the score sheet before Alwyn Robert wrapped up the scoring from a Sam Faulkner cross in the final minute.
