Tuesday 5th May saw Bangor City FC In The Community, continue the launch of its Turn Up and Play (TUP) Scheme on Anglesey with a taster session at Ysgol Y Graig in Llangefni, the first of 3 schools to participate in the scheme in the Llangefni area. Bangor City's TUP scheme is being delivered in partnership with the Welsh Football Trust and is being launched in the Holyhead and Llangefni areas through the delivery of taster sessions at 7 schools, 4 in Holyhead and 3 in Llangefni. The school based taster sessions represent phase 1 of the TUP scheme, once this is completed the second phase of the scheme will be delivering a 1 hour weekly TUP session in each area. The coaching in each school will be for Years 1 and 2 and the out of school weekly sessions will be for players aged 4 – 7 years. The aim of this project is to get children playing football, who currently do not play in a structured environment, imbue within them a love for the game, develop their basic skills and then signpost them into a junior club. The session at Ysgol Y Graig was a fantastic way to kick off this project in Llangefni with 51 pupils in attendance, a great group of players to work with, some fantastic skills on show and a great school to work in partnership with!!! Bangor City FC Community Officer Ethan Ray said “this was a great start to the project in Llangefni, and a great scheme to be part of, fantastic way to engage more children within the sport, helping to grow the game and facilitating the development of young footballers, looking forward to completing the taster sessions with the other schools in the coming weeks”
