The club were sad to learn today of the passing of former player Ken Birch.

Ken joined the club in 1960 after transferring from Cheltenham Town. He had also previously played for Everton and Southampton. Ken captained the team against Napoli in the famous 1962 match which saw Bangor City defeat the Italian giants 2-0 at Farrar Road, with Ken scoring the second goal from the penalty spot. Ken left the club in 1963 and moved to South Africa as player-manager of Johannesburg side Benoni.

The club sends it's condolences to all of Ken's family and friends at this sad time.

Ken will be sadly missed by all at Bangor City. A minutes silence will be held before this Sunday's match against Rhyl. No funeral arrangements have been announced as of yet.
