Bangor City FC have this year been named Club of the Year for the North Wales Coast FA Area in the Welsh Community Football Awards. For sterling work both on and off the pitch Bangor City FC were deemed the best club in North Wales in 2014 and as such have been nominated for the Club Of The Year for the whole of Wales, the winner of which will be decided in October at the National Awards Ceremony.
The great work which the club has been undertaking on the pitch saw a successful campaign for European Football in the 2013-2014 season which culminated in Bangor City beating Rhyl in the Play-Off Final and playing V Icelandic outfit St Jarnan in the Europa League. The youth set up at Bangor City also gained success this season as the U19 came 2nd in the U19 Welsh Premier League to arch rivals The New Saints. Success this season not only came in the league but also in the North Wales Coast FA Cup as Bangor City FC reached the final, narrowly losing out to Caernarfon Town FC in the final. Alongside the successful onfield campaign for the 1st team during the 2013-2014 season Bangor City FC also hosted a number of international fixtures including 3 UEFA European Qualifiers; an U16 Victory Shield Match and a Wales Women's World Cup Qualifier, bringing international football to the North Wales area.
This hugely successful season on the pitch was matched by a hugely successful season off the pitch. 2014 saw further developments in the vibrant community programme at Bangor City FC, which has gone from strength to strength now having: 3 after-school clubs every week with over 70 children participating, 3 girls football teams (U10; U12 and U14), 2 disability football teams (a junior and an adults team), delivering school holiday soccer camps with an average of 60 children attending, running educational projects based around literacy and numeracy in primary schools, undertaking cricket camps in the school holidays in partnership with Menai Bridge CC and many other projects and activities. Alongside this development in its community programme Bangor City FC have also opened their own state of the art 3G training facility at The Book People Stadium. In partnership with Bangor University this great new pitch was opened on 4th August 2014 and is being used by a diverse demographic of teams and is a resource for the whole community to utilise.
